Beyond Group 4th National Exhibition

Once again I’ve entered the Beyond Group’s National Exhibition. This year the Beyond Group has added print classes to the program, and I had intended to submit prints, but in the end I hadn’t got them ready in time so again entered digital images.

As a change from my usual competition entries I decided to enter primarily colour images rather than monochrome, so it will be interesting to see how these fare in competition. I submitted three colour digital images in all, One being the image to the left. The heading image currently used on this website is a crop form one of the other images submitted.

I also included one monochrome image … I couldn’t do completely colour!

Judging is this weekend, with results due shortly afterwards. Fingers crossed!

Cotswold Monochrome Salon 2011

Monochrome photograph of a steam engine being restored at Threlkeld

Old Time Engineering

Cotswold Monochrome has reverted to a ‘print only’ format this year so I had to decide whether or not I wanted to go to the additional cost and effort (and planning!) of preparing and posting prints rather than digital images that I usually select and send at the last minute! I have some print boxes left over from the days before digital projected image competitions were the norm, so decided to enter, and shared the postage costs at least with a couple of other members from my local camera club. GDPU Digital Exhibition 2011 (update: results)

The second photographic salon I submitted images to this year was the Glasgow District Photographic Union’s 2011 digital exhibition. As the name implies this salon is for digital images only, which is much easier to manage an entry for than a print exhibition! Acceptances at this exhibition count towards BPE awards. Bristol International Salon of Photography 2011

Trees at Clints Crag I’ve started my trail through the photography salons this year with an entry to the Bristol Salon. This international salon is for projected digital images only, with three classes. I’ve entered the ‘open’ class only (which merges monochrome, colour and creative into a single class).

Beyond Group

Blea Tarn Following on from my initial entry this year into the Cotswold Monochrome Salon, I’ve also entered the Beyond Group Salon. This salon is only for projected images, so I didn’t have to make a decision whether I should enter prints or not. It does however offer the option for entering both colour and monochrome images so I entered some of each. (It also offers a ‘nature’ class, which I didn’t enter.) Once again acceptances count towards BPE awards.
